PERFORMING EXPERIENCE

1964 - 69 Began learning guitar in Singapore and in 1965 joined three Chinese brothers in a
Shadows-style pop-group, resulting in a sponsored charity event for 2000 kids
before having to return home in December 66 . . .
Took up classical lessons in '67 and played locally around Hampshire in all the folk
clubs and met Fiona Simpson('Therapy') and Andrew Baird forming a brief trio
(Fiona runs her own band now and I heard that Andrew is a bank manager.!)
Spent 4 years at the City of Leeds College of Music from '69 and played all the folk clubs
around. Practised hours every day, sang in 2 choirs, formed a duo with guitar & lute teacher
Roger Child and played in local wine-bars with Elaine Kershaw on flute.

(Heard & saw: Pentangle, Tom Paxton, Julie Felix, Jake Thackray, Santana, Bob Marley, John Williams & Julian Bream together, to name a few, and all the major classical orchestras of the of the day: at Leeds Town Hall, the University Union building and Refectory Hall)

1970 - 71		One year publishing contract (subsidiary of Chappell’s Music, New Bond Street, London) led to initial appearances on National BBC-TV, Scottish BBC, Radio2 and local radio stations, as support act to Mike D’Abo (ex-Manfred Mann), Nina (of Nina and Frederick) and Bridget St. John
1972 - 77		Small concerts & classical recitals in the Leeds/Manchester areas Played & arranged 6 tracks on Tom Yates's "Song of the Shimmering Way" (Satril 1975)
Since 1980		Hotel work, restaurants, wine-bars, pubs, private functions and conferences in London and the South-East and began a 23 year association with Covent Garden
1987- 89		Played bass, guitar & vocals in ‘Los Primos’, a Latin-funk 4-piece
1988		3 months musical residency with ‘Los Primos’ in ‘Oranda-Mura’ (Holland Village) nr. Nagasaki, Japan. Also played solo in concert at the Sasebo City Jazz Club, Japan
Since 1990		Has performed at many UK festivals, including Glastonbury twice, Birmingham twice, Kings Lynn, Guildford six times, Chichester and numerous smaller concerts and other events throughout the UK, including support to Jackie Levin, Scotland’s uniquely strange singer-songwriter
July '99		Performances during Guernsey’s ‘Liberation Day Celebration’
Aug.'00		Played ‘Diva Dinner’ – after Opera Festival, Jersey
Oct. '02		‘Rugby Super-league Grand Final Event’ at Old Trafford, Manchester – support to Samantha Mumba and 30-minute broadcast on SKY-TV, in front of 64,000 people!
